New Construction

A new home on rural or unincorporated land almost always needs its own septic system. The installation starts with a site evaluation and soil test, then moves through permitting, excavation, tank setting, and connecting the plumbing to the treatment system.

Site evaluation and soil testing

Before any excavation begins, a soil test determines how quickly water percolates through the ground. This percolation rate decides whether the site can support a conventional gravity system or needs an aerobic treatment unit with surface spray. The test also identifies the water table depth and any rock or clay layers that affect drain field placement.

Excavation and tank setting

Seal Digging Service excavates the tank pit, the drain field trenches or spray lines, and the connection run from the house. The tank is set level on a prepared bed, connected to the household plumbing, and backfilled in lifts to prevent shifting. Aerobic systems also require an electrical connection for the air pump and control panel.

What a homeowner should expect

A residential installation typically takes two to five days of on-site work, depending on weather and soil conditions. The yard will be disturbed wherever trenches are dug. After backfill, the disturbed areas need reseeding or sodding. The completed system should be inspected and pumped on the schedule recommended for your tank size and household.
